Capturing Kids' Hearts
Capturing Kids’ Hearts® National Showcase Schools are recognized for their excellence in creating safe and welcoming environments where students are relationally connected and eager to learn.
Capturing Kids' Heart, through the Flippen Group, has been a zone-wide initiative for 10 or more years. Our POWER Zone mission is built upon respectful relationships, and so there's little we do that matters more than Capturing Kids' Hearts. It is what sets us apart.
We train all of our new teachers in CKH level 1 each year, and we periodically train staff representatives in Leadership Blueprint and CKH Process Champions as part of this initiative. Leadership Blueprint is a training specific to administrators and leaders. Capturing Kids' Hearts Process Champions is a training in which experienced CKH implementers learn how to "champion" the CKH process across their campus. They keep the initiative alive and growing. We have upcoming Process Champions trainings scheduled for later this week.

All of our schools implement CKH at high levels and there are common elements of it that can be observed at any of our campuses-- Social Contracts in schools and classrooms, Greetings at the Door, Good Things shared to start class, daily affirmations, and more. CKH helps the POWER Zone to meet the Marzano High Reliability School (HRS) Level 1 expectation of a safe, supportive, collaborative culture.
Ridgeview leadership was approached by the Flippen Group and recognized for excellent CKH implementation. They invited us to apply for and seek CKH National Showcase School status. Achieving this national level recognition requires meeting a variety of implementation benchmarks, along with receiving positive reviews by a body of stakeholders-- staff, parents, and students. RVES received showcase status that year and has earned it every year since then through a rigorous application process.
